This was my seventh year at Idyllwild and my first year as a counselor. Branch was represented by the thirteen of us, Mike, Stacie, nine campers and yours truly. We headed up the mountain Friday and made it there in time for pizza and primo bunk spots.
On Saturday we had our lesson, and of course singing, along with games of fierce competition. In the snow structure building contest, my team made an exact replica of Mr. Thebault, which was no doubt the most beautiful. Calvin downed a chunk of spam for the team, we won the egg throwing contest and did well in the other events. That night was skit night where my girls group put together a parody of "Deal or No Deal," complete with awesome commercials and won best actress.
My group was so great. Every girl was kind, thoughtful and every one had such an amazing personality. Jr. Highers are so fun to observe. Every year makes a huge difference. They are evolving into the adults they will someday become (however far that time may be). Their character is developing and their childhood energy is at its fullest. No matter what camper I talked to, I truly enjoyed the conversation.
After church on Sunday we flew down the mountain with a few sick stomach. Mike, Stacie, Sarah, Emma and I had some in depth decisions about the life that follows. We made it to church that afternoon, drowsy, dirty and ready to hit the sack.
